Dr. John Moroney

A picture of Doctor John Moroney

John enthusiastically entered General Practice after realising that his main interest was in the continuity of patient care.

He accumulated experience, as a medical SHO and Registrar, in Chest medicine, Cardiology, Dermatology, Neurology, Rheumatology and Haematology.

John is actively involved in medical Education, both in the postgraduate sphere (as GP Tutor and HPE Tutor for York and District) and in the Undergraduate sphere (as a Senior Clinical Tutor at HYMS - the new, local medical school).

John also has planned and delivered the training for GP Appraisals for Selby and York PCT .

He has recently successfully completed a  Master's Degree in Primary Health Care and has particular interests in medical ethics, medical sociology and in developing truly integrated primary health teams, involving patients in their care.

As an Executive Board member and Chair of the Education Sub- Committee for the York Against Cancer charity , a Trustee Board memeber for York and District CAB and regular medical officer for York City Football Club, spare time is at a premium, even though both children have recently left for University. However John keeps fit with regular jogging and occasional golf. The dog may well feel more time should be spent going for walks!
