Dr. Mike Jones

Mike qualified from St Mary's Medical School, London, in 1978; he has been a partner in the practice since 1983.

He has been a GP trainer since 1990 and has also been involved in providing clinical support for FY2 (newly qualified) doctors.  In addition he provides educational supervision to new GP trainers.

His partnership responsibilities include IT, he founded the York branch of the EMIS user group.

He has additional interests in mental health (being approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act) and is a GP with Special Interest  in Substance Misuse, he has acted as a mentor for the RCGP certificate in addiction studies.

He is a clinical teaching fellow at Hull and York Medical School,  and is involved in the annual appraisal of local colleagues.

In 2003 he completed a certificate in Primary Care Education at Leeds university to support and complement his interest in adult learning.

He is a keen scuba diver (BSAC) qualified to Dive  Leader, is an Open Water Instructor and chair of Excalibur dive club (http://www.excalibursac.co.uk/ ).  He is also an HSE Approved Medical Examiner of Divers and a referee for the UK Sports Dive Commitee.
